CIH, which is part of Euronics, Europe's largest electrical buying group, used this year’s suppliers Christmas lunch event, which was held at Claridge’s hotel in London earlier this month, to announce the winners of several industry awards.
Refrigeration brand Liebherr picked up the trophy for White Goods Supplier of the Year, while Sony walked away with Brown Goods Supplier of the Year.
Electrolux won Supporter of the Independents, and the final award for Supplier of the Year, which was voted for by members of CIH/ Euronics, went to BSH.
CIH chairman, Steve Scogings, (pictured) gave a speech in which he updated attendees on the CIH / Euronics business.
He said that it was doing a lot better than its competitors and highlighted the group’s online progress, including a comprehensive new website that also delivers an innovative, ‘closed marketplace’ function for its members.
Each agent now has access to a unique URL, meaning they can manage their own microsite, which allows them to be more visible within the communities they support.
“We have taken the learnings we gained from the last couple of years and moved forward on our digital transformation,” said Mr Scogings.
“Previously we had a reliable website, but with only 650-700 products to choose from – now we have well over 2,500 products for the consumer to purchase.”
He said the buying group had seen a 33 percent increase in revenue on the website since launch.
As well as online growth, CIH has enjoyed significant growth through its stores, said Mr Scogings, adding: “Consumers can see we offer much more for than just the restricted range we had previously shown. The new website is generating footfall as well as online sales and shows Euronics is now a true omnichannel retailer with a professional team to back it up.”
He said: “The new Evolution marketplace is building strong momentum, and we are seeing a seismic change in the members’ ability to compete online.
“This will continue to develop over the next few months and years and will require our suppliers’ help, in making sure the content we show for your brands is feature-rich, relevant to our consumers, and on time.”
