Haier unveils rebranding and new
Smart Cube connected appliance
Appliance company Haier, which owns the Hoover and Candy brands, has announced it is changing its name, in addition to unveiling a new connected smart appliance system that runs on solar energy.
The company revealed both its new name and the development of its new Smart Cube product at an event in London's Icetank last month, along with a number of other smart cooking and laundry products using AI features.
The Smart Cube includes an Inverter, battery storage, EV charger and Heat Pump controller all stacked in one unit. It harvests solar energy to run an entire household’s products.
According to Haier, the Smart Cube can be installed in users’ homes and works as an inverter and battery for solar power, which is then converted to energy and used to run connected home appliances, which can be controlled through the company’s app.
Jim McEwan, Chief Commercial Officer for Haier Smart Home UK & Ireland said, “We want to inspire consumers to buy our products. We are continuing to invest in green technology and we were awarded the Terra Carta seal of approval for sustainability. We have spent 350 million euros on factories in Europe over the last four years. They are efficient and all our factories are at least part powered by solar. What we offer is the best energy solutions for the consumer.”
Mr McEwan added that the company was going to be investing 400% more in its marketing to help Haier Smart Home become a household name.
In April Haier announced new appointments in its senior leadership team, with Francesco Di Valentin as its new chief business officer, and in March the appointment of Neil Tunstall as new CEO of Haier Europe.
