The newly-formed Under 8 Orange football team playing at the Leverington Sports & Social Club on the outskirts of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, will be stepping onto the pitch in style this season thanks to the generosity of a local business.
Retra member Hughes Electrical has supplied the team, who play in the Mid Norfolk Youth League, with custom- made tracksuits.
Said David Youngs, manager of the Hughes store in Wisbech: “When we were approached by Jay Gosling, who coaches the Under 8 Orange team, we were more than happy to help.
“As a company we have been operating in the town for nearly 30 years and see ourselves as being at the heart of the local community.
“We know what an asset the Leverington Sports & Social club is to the area and the great work done there to enable local people of all ages to enjoy playing football, as well as other activities.”
Added Mr Gosling, “It means a lot to the club that Hughes has agreed to sponsor the tracksuits, having previously approached around 100 local businesses who either declined or did not respond.
“The tracksuits mean the team can train comfortably throughout the winter, as well as warm up properly before matches. I am sure they will serve us well for many years to come and we are very grateful.”
