A new CEO is set to take up the reins at the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (AMDEA), with Stefan Hay appointed to lead the organisation.

Current CEO Paul Hide is set to step down after nearly six years at the helm, with AMDEA's Board delighted to announce Hay's appointment as his successor.

Mr Hay brings three decades of senior-level experience working with trade associations, membership bodies and not-for-profit organisations. His background includes leadership roles with the Confederation of European Security Suppliers, the British Security Industry Association, and the Electrical Contractors' Association. Most recently, he served as CEO of the National Tyre Distributors Association. Earlier in his career, he held various operational and training positions in the corporate security sector.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Hay said: "At a time of exciting evolution in the domestic appliance sector where innovation, sustainability, and smart technology are transforming our everyday lives at rapid pace, I am delighted to be joining AMDEA as CEO. I have big shoes to fill – Paul has achieved amazing things over the past five and a half years, and I'm looking forward to working with a very competent and very successful team. It's a privilege to lead an organisation at the heart of such meaningful change, and emerging opportunities and I look forward to supporting our members and working with them to shape the future of our industry.

"Retra Director Jeff Moody welcomed the appointment, and said: "We want to welcome Stefan to his new position and know he will do a great job. It's been fantastic working alongside Paul and we are looking forward to the future and where Stefan takes the organisation."

The change in leadership comes at a pivotal time for the domestic appliance industry, with increasing focus on energy efficiency, smart home technology, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
