Whirlpool Corporation has entered into an agreement to buy InsinkErator from current owner Emerson for $3 billion (£2.5bn).

The deal is expected to be completed during the final quarter of 2022.

InSinkErator is the global market leader in food waste disposers, and a major player in the specialist kitchen tap market. It was founded in 1938 and acquired by Emerson in 1968.

Ashley Munden, general manager - managing director, EMEA, InSinkErator, (pictured) said: “At InSinkErator, we will continue to deliver premium, world class products, serving our customers with the highest quality standards.

“Business will continue to operate as normal with no changes to our customer experience.”

He added: “Today, InSinkErator is a well-known and respected brand that has an exciting opportunity ahead. With the support of Whirlpool Corporation, InSinkErator will continue to build on its strong legacy and performance, accelerate growth opportunities, develop innovative products and sustainable solutions for our customers.

“We will continue to invest in an engaging workplace experience for our employees and drive positive impact for our communities and all other stakeholders.”

Whirlpool Corporation’s decision to invest in InSinkErator is both thoughtful and strategic, including further investment in our forthcoming product technologies, said Mr Munden.

He added: “We are very excited for our business and customers about this new development and the future opportunities.”
