Special report by Darren Sherriff, owner of Retra associate member LoneStar Consulting
Well once again IFA did not disappoint, showcasing the world's top consumer electronics brands all in one place albeit across a vast campus of halls. But I came prepared with a comfortable pair of sneakers and a rough plan of stands to visit and meetings to attend.
As 2024 marked the 100th anniversary of this influential consumer electronics and home appliance tradeshow, with over 1800 exhibitors and 187 speakers over 5 days. Everything from ebikes and scooters to ‘Smart’ eyewear, Flatscreens, Home appliance, IT and mobile devices and every accessory you could think of were all on display.
Large screen TV once again featured heavily as Hisense debuted the UXN series TVs and the PX3-Pro Laser Cinema, whilst they also showcased their Gorenje and Asko white goods brands. AEG introduced its largest product launch to date, the AEG Kitchen Line.
Samsung in their usual City Cube location had a vast array of products featuring its SmartThings AI technology, demonstrating how this integrates into everyday life.
Anker and sister brands Eufy and Soundcore took a large footprint to promote their power accessories, security and audio devices. That reminds me I must get myself a new fast charger!

Both Honor and Google showcased their new folding smart phones, the
Honor Magic V3 and Googles, Pixel 9 Pro Fold with Gemini, their
impressive AI assistant.
It's great to see some UK brands in attendance, I especially liked Boompods and their ‘made from ocean plastic story. And Mitchell Acoustics with a streaming turntable and speakers.
Sadly I didn’t get to see dance music legends Faithless, Kosheen, Incognito and Stereo MCs perform in the Sommergarten.
Reporting an impressive 215,000 visitors from 138 countries, the show hasn’t lost its appeal. In just a day I clocked up 15.5km of walking, making my activity counter very happy! I’m so glad I wore my sneakers!
