A consumer safety charity has opened entries for its annual Safety Innovation Award, celebrating pioneering ideas that help protect consumers from electrical hazards.

Electrical Safety First is inviting entries from individuals and organisations for the award, which recognises innovative projects and products designed to improve electrical safety in homes and communities.

Submissions can be at any stage of development, and the award is free to enter. It offers a platform for innovators to showcase their ideas to key industry audiences, including retailers, manufacturers, distributors, policymakers and the public.

Previous winners include Flair Solutions' E:BAG, a specialist bag designed to contain and extinguish fires caused by lithium-ion batteries, the SafeBatt Project, HobSensus, a safety device that turns kitchen hobs off when left unattended, Connected Innovations' sockets that detect heat build-up, and E-bulb, the world's smallest fire extinguisher.

Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First, said: "Each year, we're inspired by the creativity and innovation of those working to make electrical products and technologies safer. Whether you're developing a brand new product, improving an existing idea or still at the prototype stage, the Safety Innovation Award is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work to leading voices across the industry, whilst helping protect consumers from harm."

The deadline for entries is Friday, 28 August 2026. The winner will be announced at Electrical Safety First's annual Electrical Product Safety Conference on Thursday, 26 November, where they will have the opportunity to present their innovation to a wide audience.
